The sounds of a mother in labor, the cries of joy expressed at the news I am about to be a mother, the sound of excited fear of a mother. Alien body changes while demanding to be treated, loved, respected, and cared for as a human. We are taking up space and being exuberant about it. Thinking of the past, future, the present being present in the journey on a bed of vocals, bass, and percussion. I am only human and a mother too now I refuse to separate these two truths? Only human perfectly imperfect and a mother too now learning this new body, still my body, learning these new skills of being a caregiver and a guide.
